UGH! Who knew???

Ok, I think I feel up to posting a bit on this blog. I've been one sick puppy over the past couple of weeks. I'm just thankful that I pulled through it and I'm much better now, but I do have a recovery ahead of me.
I've been promising my friends I'd tell them all about it, so here goes...in bits and pieces.

How can a person be really really sick and not know it? Well, it happened to me. On Monday night, February 29th, I wasn't feeling quite up to snuff. No symptoms of anything, just a weird weakness in my legs.

At about 2:15am the following morning, March 1st, I was trying to walk back to bed from the bathroom, a journey of about 15 steps. I got about 2 steps away from being back in bed when I lost it. My legs went right out from under me and I collapsed in a heap, stuck between the dresser and the corner of the bed. I hit the floor hard, with all my weight on my right leg....my poor right thigh was feeling it too.

Thank God I fell, because I was totally unaware that there were three infections, one dangerous, raging inside my body. I had an upper respiratory infection, a urinary tract infection, and the bad one, I was septic with a blood infection. That one could have killed me if gone unchecked.

No symptoms of any of these, just the weakness in my legs.

I was totally unresponsive to the paramedics, only able to give them my date of birth. Dave was scared that I'd had a stroke. I don't remember them getting me off my leg and dragging me to the hallway on a sliding blanket and putting me on a stretcher. I don't remember getting to the hospital or the ride there.

I was much better after a few hours of super whammy antibiotic and fluids, and started to come around.

I spent 3 days in the hospital before I was transferred to a rehab facility. I had this awesome nurse named Jordan who sang show tunes with me when he came in. I was kinda sorry to leave the hospital.

2nd episode, The Rehab from Hell, is on it's way.
